MELLOTRON SAMPLES

Mellotron Samples: $20 for SET A (3 Violins, Cello, Choir) or SET B (Flutes, Mixed Brass, Cello) - Click HERE to order

VintageKeyboardSounds.com presents AUTHENTIC MELLOTRON SAMPLES from our own Mellotron SM400 (pictured). These samples include every key and note from the following voices:

SET A - Three Violins, Cello, and Choir.

SET B - Flutes, Brass, and Cello.

These are the vintage sounds of the Beatles, Moody Blues, Genesis, Yes, and King Crimson.

This special offer for these voices has been exclusively sanctioned by David Kean of Mellotron Archives. For a more complete set of sounds of the Mark II Mellotron, go to: http://www.mellotron.com/cdlist.htm. At this site you will find the excellent Mike Pinder CD that includes all the classic Mark II voices.

SET A - The Three Violins and Cello are outstanding examples of the classic Mellotron sound. The Three Violins are originally from the Mark II Mellotron used in the original recordings by these classic bands (not the thinner M400 Strings recordings). The Cello also originates from this instrument and can be heard on many recordings by the Moody Blues. Mixed with the Three Violins you get that thick, lush string section. The Choir is that distinctive, funky mixed choir that you hear on the early Yes and Genesis recordings.

SET B - The Flutes are the same as on the Beatles' recording of "Strawberry Fields Forever", and many Moody Blues recordings including "Have You Heard?". The haunting Mixed Brass can be heard on the early Genesis and King Crimson recordings. The Cello can be heard on many recordings by the Moody Blues.

Unlike most Mellotron samples, these samples have not been shortened or looped, so you get everything from every note! They include the complete 6-8 second duration of the entire length of tape from the initial attack to the end of the note (you may loop them yourself if you want a continuous sound). To assure their authenticity we recorded them as-is -- with faint sounds of bows scraping, musicians breathing, and other genuine Mellotron idiosyncracies.

Most Mellotron sample banks give you only 6 or 9 multisamples that you must stretch over your entire keyboard... We send you all 35 samples for each sound. This is important to note as the Mellotron voices consist of 35 separate performances (one for each key of the Mellotron). This is what gives the Mellotron its distinctive sound as the separate performances mix with each other in chordal passages, and sound individual from one another when playing string motifs and arpeggios. Listen closely to In the Court of the Crimson King and you will hear what we mean.

These samples will be delivered to you on CD-ROM. We are including wave (.wav) and aiff (.aif) files that will play on most samplers. We can also custom format these samples for other sample formats. Please send us an e-mail indicating if you need a special format.

We also include two files for owners of the Yamaha Motif ES. These files are easily loaded as sample waveforms so you may import them directly into your Motif ES (step-by-step instructions included).

These samples are compatible with any sampler that reads wave or aiff files, including the Yamaha Motif, Roland Fantom, Korg Triton, and many Kurzweil, E-mu, Ensoniq, and Akai MPC samplers. They are also compatible with most of the leading software samplers, including Reason, Pro Tools, Logic, Acid, Halion, E-mu, SoundFont, Sound Forge, Cakewalk, Sonar, Emagic, and Cubase.

You will be amazed to hear Nights in White Satin, In the Court of the Crimson King, Epitaph, Tuesday Afternoon, Space Oddity, Strawberry Fields Forever, and Close to the Edge the way they are supposed to sound.

SATISFACTION GUARANTEED! Check out our 100% satisfaction feedback rating. If you are not satisfied for any reason, send back the CD and we will gladly refund the purchase price (minus shipping and insurance). California residents, please add $1.65 Sales Tax. Thank you!

NOTES: The Mellotron pictured is not for sale. The samples originate from this actual Mellotron SM400 that resides in our studio. This Mellotron lived most of its life safely tucked away in the corner of a recording studio and was never on tour or abused by burned out progressive rockers. This is why it looks and sounds so good.

Unlike the Three Violins, Flutes, Brass, and Cello samples which cover the entire 35 note Mellotron keyboard, the Choir consists of 23 samples. This is because the Choir on the Mellotron folds back (repeats) at F#4, so we did not duplicate these notes. You just need to map the wave files to your personal keyboard.
